Okay, I live in a stupid and laughable town. Enough of that. It's time to cope with what really matters, and that would be the picks for the season. THE SEASON, that is. In a rare turn, I haven't watched a single snap of football, not one. No pre-season for me. I hate pre-season games. They really don't tell us much, except who will get injured and even those mostly happen in camp. Teams play harder against themselves then they do against pre-season opponents. But the season begins tomorrow, and picks must be made. Oh yes they must.
NFC -West.
Let me get this straight right from the beginning. The West, in both conferences, is the total suck. Teams will make the playoffs with poor records from the west. This saddens me, because I live ... in the west. Singletary will likely be the coach of the year. Few can pass their intensity on to the team, and yet he's done so. San Francisco will rule the NFC in the west. there really is little more to say, other than Arizona has lost so very very much in the off season. What were they thinking? And Seattle? Pete Carroll? Really excited boy, and useless to the pro game. Seattle wins a few and then goes down, hard. And Saint Louis wins more than the Cardinals.
San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks
Saint Louis Rams
Arizona Cardinals.
NFC - South
Falcons are coming on, baby. Ryan will get his stride, just enough to be whooped by Drew Brees. The Panthers might be somewhat surprising, but no. And Tampa will contend for the third draft pick, again.
New Orleans Saints - probable Super bowl pick.
Atlanta Falcons.
Carolina Panthers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
NFC - North
Ohh, Brett Favre is back. So what!?! Minnesota will be good. The defense will asure that. Jared Allen is probably the best in the game. But Green Bay has the talent, the youth and the drive. I pick the Pack. Detroit will improve to the second draft pick (hopefully better, but I doubt it.) The only question for Chicago is how many interceptions Cutler will throw. (Actually, it's the defense. I'll be surprised in Chicago goes 8-8.)
Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
NFC - East
The Eastern divisions are the ones to watch, regardless of conference. If someone says "beasts of the east", this is the season they're talking about. The Cowboys have everything to play for. Home field in the Super Duper Bowl. Andy Reed disappoints in that he won't start (or maybe he will) Michael Vick. The Giants are the hugest unknown ever. Last year they had everything going for them, and still fell flat. If they do so this year, Coughlin loses his job. But! They still have Eli Manning. Don't ever count that out. (Am I the only one disturbed that Ben Rottensburgers got away with rape and a 4 game suspension but Plaxico Burress is serving 2 years in prison for being dumb enough to shoot himself?) Anyone, who has ever, ever watched Donovan McNabb better fear the Washington Redskins.
Dallas Cowboys - NFC Championship Game
Washington Redskins - wildcard birth.
Philadelphia Eagles -wildcard birth
New York Giants
AFC - East
HOLY FUCK! This will be the most enjoyable division in football to watch. Brady (unhappy), Moss (unhappy). Welker, back from injury. Defense? None existent. Dane Fletcher plays for these guys, and they're worth watching for that alone. The Jets? Hot as hell. Miami. Hotter. 3 Great running games, a competent quarterback and an all pro (two) receiver(s). The Patriots are on the way down, and Miami is rising. I expect upsets in this division.
New York Jets
Miami Dolphins
New England Patriots
Some other team, Buffulo maybe?
AFC - North
Another bad ass division. Rottenburgers never should have been reinstated to his throne of crap. It won't matter. Cincy has the best receiving corps in football, and a helluva running game as well. Baltimore is one of the most solid squads in the game, on offense and defense. My respect for Holmgren has diminished because he wouldn't fire Mangini. If I can predict a coach firing in the middle of the season, it will be Mangini.
Baltimore Ravens - Super Bowl Contender
Cincinnati Bengals - wildcard and Super Bowl Contender
Pittsburg Steelers
Cleveland Browns - contending for first draft pick.
AFC - South
Indianapolis rules this division. There is little else to say. A couple of years ago, Tennessee played the game, and they likely will again. Young appears capable, but he needs to prove himself. This may be Kubiak's last year as coach in Houston. here's still a team in Jacksonville, or so I've heard.
Indianapolis Colts - Super Bowl contender, and possiible winner
Tennessee Titans -contender for wildcard birth
Houston Texans - possible contender for wildcard birth
Jacksonville who?
AFC - West
Fuck this all. Without Dumervil, I'm going to be impressed with the Broncos if they win 6 games. That's likely why I haven't watched any pre season football. The west is weak. San Diego will win it, and be out in the second round of playoffs at best. Weak division. Very very weak.
San Diego Chargers
Denver Broncos or Kansas City Chiefs. Who cares? Neither one is going to get above .500
Oakland Raiders. Good draft and trades and no production. 5th draft pick, if they're lucky.
HEY, you only put my Bears 3rd in the NFC North???? But the.. uh and the.... but what if..
Ah shit, you're probably right. Damnit.
