Out of deference to one of my frequent readers, I haven't wigged out about the sadistic bastard engineer who feels that Bozeman's northside should be unaccessible from anywhere else in town. So, imagine my joy at reading this letter to the editor in the Bozeman Comical that succinctly sums up my frustrations:
Is there any street, avenue, highway, boulevard, bridge, alley, place, drive, court, circle, square, sidewalk, path, trail or driveway in Bozeman not under repair or construction? If there isn't, who's paying for it?
Don Kreitz
Bozeman
I couldn't have said it better myself.
Don's a friend and a frequent Chronicle letter writer. Did you read his letter regarding the recently revised Willson mansionette? That was funny too.
I was in the neighborhood today for a beer and it seemed accessible. Downtown businesses haven't been so lucky and many are hurting badly. I've been wondering if the stamped crosswalks might've been the straw that broke the businesses' back.
There are two simple truths. First, that all traffic engineers are perverse and diabolical. Second, that you weren't supposed to be kept out. You were supposed to be in, and kept in.
If you do get out, please go frequent your favorite downtown establishments. They need the biz.

Next week JTL will install the side street crosswalks at Wallace and Broadway. Both streets will be closed to vehicular traffic crossing Main Street.
