No, I am not 'angry at 4 &20' because you folks aren't Democrats. That is a rather entrenched lie. It's rather more the case that I'm angry that some folks over there act like pompous jackasses to those they think are "Democrats". An even finer point is that they confuse (willfully) those who vote Democrat for those who serve office under that blanket in order to distance themselves from Democrats and further the mask of their own enlightened thinking. That's not so different at all from the not-so-endearing Tokarski, is it?
It was JC who proclaimed loudly, in context of the debt debate, that Democrats 'can't be happy about any of this'. He was referring, of course, to Democratic voters. Think on that for a second. The Democrats that JC says that Democrats should be unhappy with are some of the same people he voted for, yet now disavows any tie to. So, he's telling "Democrats", people who did the same damned thing he did, that we should be unhappy because we don't now agree with him that he acted stupidly. I don't think his actions were stupid, and I've no interest in absolving him through shared blame. It is much easier for him to blame me, rather than accept responsibility for what he voted for. That's the long and short of it.
What "democrats" are supposed to be unhappy about are things that haven't happened yet. What has happened is this: Leftists predicted that Obama would cave to the right. He hasn't. So they change the narrative to be that Obama really wants to enable right-wing policy. That may be true. It hasn't happened. What has happened is this. Most of those so very interested in NOT being seen as Democrats (even though they've voted that way most of their entire lives) keep drawing lines in the sand for others to follow, erasing them and redrawing when the general reaction from the vast majority of leftward folk is 'meh'. Poll after poll has shown that most "Democrats", voters that is, favor the same things that JC and others of his ilk favor. But, because we won't profess our agreement with the agenda or methods of some on the left, we are at fault for the failure of the left in general. No, we're not. We just disagree.
And so, JC and others want desperately for a third party leader to rise up and save ourselves from ourselves. They "HOPE" that some Leader can be found (presumably by others) such that that Leader will lead us to liberal Nirvana away from that "democrat" who lied about the value of HOPE. Excuse me, but HOPE is exactly the fucking point, especially if one accepts that we are the change we've been waiting for. Rather than crying out for a leader while waiting for someone better to appear, how about we flood the 'leadership' we have with our will? Oh wait, we have been. Still, it may not happen that Obama is that Leader. I accept that. What I have a difficult time accepting is all of the whiners claiming that we need a better leader while expecting others to provide it, and blaming people like me because we don't. I don't fault 4 & 20 for not being Democrats. I fault 4 & 20 for blaming Democratic voters for not being what they desperately hoped they would be.
p.s. I predicted that JC wouldn't go 2 weeks after I used the term "emoprog" before he used the term "obamabot". An' emoprog' has foundation as a reference. "Obamabot" is a dismissal, and means nothing more than the right wing hoped it would. So far, my predictions have been vastly better than his, at all turns, for quite some time.
