Ah, it was good to revisit that debate, which devolved into Nader-sniping. I made the point that progressive movements usually join the Democratic Party, and then die, and you made the point that the corporations that the Democrats supposedly oppose often finance the party. We meet at the confluence. It's a systemic problem.

Maybe the difference between Democrats and progressives is their source of finance - Democrats: Corporations and wealthy families, Progressives: grassroots, if at all.

Back to Nader, since I think you miss and then miss again and again the fundamental point: What Nader said is that if you are a progressive, you should fight for your cause, and one way to do this is to force the Democrats into a bargaining position. You say it's wrong to do that, that we should never attempt to force a bargain with Democrats or threaten to withhold votes unless they adopt progressive policies, that we should always blindly support them since we'll be better off with them than with Republicans.

That's your fundamental error, in my view. You don't believe in fighting for your cause. Maybe that is the fundamental difference we are looking for between liberals (Democrats) and progressives.
